THE PARENTS-TEACHERS ASSOCIATION
Subject: Technical Concerns with the Main Circuit Breaker in the area surrounding the Philippine School
Dear fellow parents/guardians,
Due to technical problems on the main circuit breaker located near the American British Academy (ABA) which is feeding the neighborhood around PS, we experienced for 2 succeeding days interruptions in electrical supply and shall expect episodic interruptions, especially during the summer months.
Let us please be clear, the power interruption was caused by the technical problems on main circuit breaker of the whole area and NOT due to out-of- order air conditioning (AC) units. Majority of our AC units have served us for more than 6 years but are functional and receiving regular maintenance services.
In July 2015, the school building had been thoroughly inspected by the ROP/ Civil Defense for its fire safety protection facilities, plumbing, AC units and general building safety features prior to the approval granted for our Muscat Municipality permit. Parallel to this, inspections were conducted by the school management with the Committee of School Development and Safety on the maintenance works done by the school staff with the maintenance team of our landlord.
From the first day of school on 2 August 2015, the PS landlord’s maintenance team has been on site to look into the matter of power interruption with the Muscat Electricity and Distribution Company (MEDC). This has been the case from the previous school years. Through our landlord and the school’s initiative, we have promptly reported such concerns. The definitive solution lies though, with the concerned agency.
Like in the past years, classes may have to be cancelled if electricity is not restored promptly. In such case, class advisers shall inform parents/ guardians. Students whose transportation is not readily available, are to remain with their advisers in a designated area within the school building until their parents arrive to pick them up.
Rest assured that the school management shall attend to, report, and coordinate closely these matters to concerned authorities to determine the root of this recurring problem and to find a permanent solution.
We seek and appeal for your understanding.
Thank you very much.
For and on behalf of the PS-Board of Trustees,
ROLAIZA RONIELLA S. SINGAYAO, MD
